DESCRIPTION:We’re collaborating with the Deep Roots Festival and the Wolfville Summer Concert Series to bring you a pride concert hosted by T. Thomason! Following Pride by the Sea T. will take the stage for an afternoon of tunes from both T. and up-and-coming queer artists! \nThis is a family-friendly\, free event. \nT. Thomason\n \nThoughtful and true\, T. Thomason’s songs shine through the darkness in the world. Since he began releasing music as a teenager\, Halifax-based Thomason has been on a journey of discovery. Lead by curiosity as his way of being\, Thomason approaches songwriting as a commitment to “Say tough things tenderly\,” a practice that reveals an impressive depth of wisdom\, clarity and courage in the young artist. Thomason’s attentive\, confident presence is felt in all aspects of his music\, in songs that build from ballad to banger\, in songs that balance confession\, confrontation and resolution\, in songs that lay it all bare. Highly recommended for sweet bbs in their truest colours\, and specifically guaranteed for fans of MUNA\, Maggie Rogers\, Troye Sivan and Kim Petras. \nCatherine Kennedy\n \nSoulful Saint John singer-songwriter\, Catherine Kennedy invites you into music where each song tells someone’s story\, and allows you to connect your own within it. Her music is a place where fact and fiction meet and nostalgia seeps in. Catherine released her solo EP Fifty-Fifty Chance in 2018\, took some time to perform on stages around the east coast such as Area 506\, Folly Fest\, Paddlefest and Shivering Songs\, and released her debut album in 2022 alongside her band. Mort is the Annapolis Valley’s favourite unhinged malignant spirit\, but that’s not public knowledge (so keep your mouth shut Deborah). \nQueera Bang\n \nQueera Bang (they/them) is a non-binary performer/producer with the goal of creating more access to queer events\, safe spaces\, and visibility for youth in rural Nova Scotia. They strive to create shows and spaces that celebrate gender diversity and drag beyond the world of Rupaul. Queera is known for their roller skating antics and ridiculousness on the mic. \nMisty Towers\n \nBorn spring 2023 \, Misty is welcome to Kjipuktuk/Halifax as one of the newest members of the Haus of Towers. She’s hit the scene heels first showcasing her talents. Curves\, swerves\, and a smile that will shake your nerves. Misty is looking forward to bringing some cheer to a stage near you. \nCookie Cunnigham\n \nCookie Cunningham is a drag king of flare and style\, he likes to shake it up and shake things loose\, so always prepare for something to come off. When professor utonium put this one together after the powerpuff girls he mixed\, black excellence\, sensuality and a whole lot of confidence. \nLumen Lux\n \nLumen Lux is a multifaceted performer who fell in love with the arts at a young age. Beginning her fire journey in 2016\, Lumen progressed from spinning fire to eating fire to breathing it. Their many talents also include hooping\, flow arts\, gogo and burlesque. \nLumen Lux has performed at festivals such as Evolve Music Festival\, Fire and Water Cultural Festival\, Nocturne\, Future Forest\, Fredericton Pride and many other events throughout Atlantic Canada. \nThey have done collaborations with many other artists and have worked with performing organizations such as Serpentine Studios and Luminosity Circus and have recently started producing her own burlesque and drag shows under the alias Lumen Lux Productions. \nThe Wolfville Queer Community Chorus\n \nThe Wolfville Queer Community Choir is a multi-generational group of singers from the 2SLGBTQ+ community that gather each week to make music and connect with one another. Led by Freya Milliken and Katie Hutten. \nTwig Newton\n \nTwig might be the oldest baby drag king in the province. With a love of fun and a passion to be a support or advocate for all walks of life he takes to stage with an enthusiasm that can’t be missed. Relocating to Wolfville in 2022 to pursue their studies in Environmental studies at Acadia university. \nYas has always had a large passion for creating artwork\, previously attending NSCAD University\, they’re work often explores the intersectionality of identity in connection to the environment that surrounds us\, heavily drawing inspiration from the flora and fauna. \nYas specializes in creating handmade and small batch work\, such as original artworks\, prints\, vinyl stickers\, wall hangings\, ceramics\, and recently has been working on a collection of repurposed jewelry. \nRadical Cat Creations\n \nStarting in 2012\, Radical Cat Creations predominantly creates fiber arts works. With a focus on the geeky and the queer\, Imriel creates pieces designed to be worn\, stuck on fridges or hung on your wall. Whether you’re looking for rainbows to flag yourself to others\, or making sure anyone who visits knows your favorite video game\, there’s something for everyone with Radical Cat Creations. Learning through a combination of Youtube and community connections\, Imriel has gained skills in cross stitching\, crochet\, tatting and other handworks over their lifetime. \nWillow Brook Treasures\n\nAtticus “Mallow” Spencer is a multimedia artist based in the Annapolis Valley\, NS. They’ve been creating art for as long as anyone can remember\, always pushing boundaries. Recently\, Atticus aims to bring people together and support/bring awareness to marginalized communities like BAIPOC\, Queer\, Neurodivergent\, Mental Health & the Physically disabled. With the backing of their loved ones and fellow artists\, Atticus hopes to expand the reach of their art and promote unity in their communities\, while providing long-lasting\, quality pieces of art that can be treasured. Atticus respectfully acknowledges they live in Kaqakwek\, on the traditional\, unceded homeland of the Mi’kmaq. \nNorma Jean\, Atticus’ mother\, is a skilled chainmail\, handmade jewelry\, and crochet artist based in the Annapolis Valley. She supports Atticus in their artistic pursuits while pursuing her own aspirations. In the 2010’s\, Norma created her business called Willow Brook Treasures\, which Atticus hopes to recreate and relaunch for her with a more modern approach. Norma acknowledges that she lives in Kaqakwek\, in the traditional\, unceded homelands of the Mi’kmaq. \nGalaxy Knitting Co\n\nFor over 5 years\, Galaxy Knitting Co has been blending cute and nerdy ideas to make unique hand crafted goods. Ever evolving\, there are always new items being created from adorable crocheted toys and useful home-goods to glittery resin accessories. \nAccessibility Notes:\nJust Us! is a welcoming business for the Queer Community. He likes tequila shots\, Carrie Underwood\, bedazzled jeans\, doing duets with his cousin sandee bottoms and shaking his booty. \nBILF\n \nHi I’m Bilf\, a drag performer from PEI now living in Halifax to finish my degree. My drag is stupidity and stunts\, I just try to have the most fun I possibly can in my performances and pride myself on constantly improving my skills and trying to create fun environments for performers to try new things in my productions. \nCryptid Xenogenesis\n \nCryptid Xenogenesis (Crypt Xeno)\, better known as Atticus “Mallow” Spencer\, is a creative and new-to-the-scene drag performer based in the beautiful Annapolis Valley\, NS. They’re known for it’s and their mother’s business\, Willow Brook Treasures\, and it’s work in 2SLGBTQIA+ & Mental Health Advocacy through their bold paintings and other works\, and it hopes to bring more light and fun to their small corner through it’s new\, experimental efforts in the performer scene. \nAtticus respectfully acknowledges that they originate from and live in Kaqakwek\, within the traditional\, unceded homelands of the Mi’kmaq people. \nFreya Milliken\n \nFreya Milliken is a multitalented Canadian singer-songwriter and a recent graduate of the School of Music at Acadia University. Her soulful vocals paired with her perceptive lyrics and talents on the guitar evoke engaging\, heartfelt songs which describe the human experience. \nJake Jockerson\n \nDid it get hot in here or is it Jake?! Jake Jockerson (he/him) is Atlantic Boylesque’s very own muscle boy. \nA sweet\, shy\, regular guy by day. A hot\, spicy\, sexy gogo dancer by night. \nWith a background in fitness and group exercise classes\, Jake can put on a show that will surely get you sweaty and wet. Buckle up and let this beefcake take you for a ride. \nJulien Pletz\n \nJulien Pletz (goth.clown.boy) is a comedian\, wannabe clown\, and probably a third thing too. He’s known for his lighthearted approach in tackling his experiences as a queer and trans deviant and laughing at how ridiculous it is to be anything at all. \nLychee \n \nLychee! (he/they) Growing up loudly queer in the Wolfville theatre scene\, it’s no surprise that drag is their trajectory. Campy\, trans\, retro extraterrestrial Lychee is quickly making themselves known in the drag scene! The biggest nerd you’ll ever meet with cosplay influencing every look and musical theatre dance moves >:) \nMiss Elaine Sparks\n \nElaine Sparks (she/they) is a new drag and burlesque performer who grew up in the Annapolis Valley. They are no stranger to the stages of Wolfville and can’t wait to return again and grow from there! \nElaine’s style is eclectic\, drawing inspiration from old Hollywood boudoir\, and anything to do with the weird\, witchy and macabre. \nQueera Bang\n \nQueera Bang (they/them) is a non-binary performer/producer with the goal of creating more access to queer events\, safe spaces\, and visibility for youth in rural Nova Scotia. They strive to create shows and spaces that celebrate gender diversity and drag beyond the world of Rupaul. Queera is known for their roller skating antics and ridiculousness on the mic. \nRa1ne\n \nOriginally from Dartmouth Nova Scotia\, Ra1ne has been making music from a young age. Now having taken that passion from hobby to reality\, Ra1ne is in their last year of a Bachelors of Music at Acadia. Being a Queer artist she could not be more excited to perform with Valley Pride! \nTom Foolery\n \nCharlie Gould (they/them) is a performance artist from Berwick\, Nova Scotia and is currently working out of Halifax. They can be found belting their favourite showtune of the week or planning their next campy show as Tomfoolery\, the gender bending drag king. A pending Bachelor of Management graduate of Dalhousie University\, Charlie directed and produced the Dalhousie Theatre Society’s production of Falsettos this Spring. \nTrina James\n\nTrina is a part time comedian and a full time black person trying to but the L in life instead of always taking them. \nIf you want to make mention of my drag life\, refer to my drag character as my evil twin \nThe Wolfville Queer Community Chorus\n \nThe Wolfville Queer Community Choir is a multi-generational group of singers from the 2SLGBTQ+ community that gather each week to make music and connect with one another. Led by Freya Milliken and Katie Hutten. \nAccessibility Notes:\nThe Al Whittle is a welcoming historic Cooperative for the Queer Community. The entrance to the theatre through the Just Us! Cafe is accessible. The entrance to the theatre itself is accessible\, and if more space to accommodate is needed\, there are entry options. There will be low lighting and standard performance/show sound systems. Originally from Truro and moved to Halifax 9 years ago she has had various career and job experiences and ultimately pursued their passion for being an interpreter. Since graduating from NSCC’s ASL/English interpretation program in 2021 she has had experience in various settings such as Video Relay Service and Post-Secondary education but has always favored the theatre\, music\, and Pride events. In her spare time lives to watch The Office on repeat\, and spend time with her partner and two cats. \nMae Striteman (they/them)\n\n\n\n\nBorn and raised in Quebec\, the ASL/English interpreting program brought Mae (they/them) to the East Coast but the proximity to the ocean is what keeps them here. They have been working in the community since graduating in 2014. They also have experience in video relay service and educational settings but the community has always been their favorite especially sports\, theatre and Pride events.

DESCRIPTION:Come out and see what’s available in the Valley for resources for our community. Whether you’re a youth\, a student\, an adult\, under the rainbow umbrella or not\, we’ve got you covered! Come check out what these wonderful organizations are doing to support the community. \nThe resource fair will be held in Jack’s Gallery at Just Us! in advance of Everyone’s a Whittle Bit Gay\, but is open to everyone\, whether or not they are attending the show. \nParticipating Organizations\nSexual Health Resource Centre\n \n\nThe Sexual Health Resource Centre (SHRC) is a sex-positive non-profit service offered by the Acadia Student’s Union. We work to facilitate the advancement\, growth\, and development of sexual health knowledge and practices by providing inclusive education\, resources\, referrals\, support\, and access to sex and gender products for the Acadia community. We primarily serve Acadia students but love to partner with the broader Wolfville community where possible. Follow us on Instagram @SHRCAcadia for evidence-informed educational posts\, info on local resources\, and more!\n\nAIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia\n \n\nThe AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia is a non-profit organization that prioritizes the 2SLGBTQIA+ community\, helping those with HIV/AIDS\, and also works to reduce stigma and issues around mental health and addictions for queer folks. We are excited to attend Valley Pride this year\, as we have a provincial mandate and would like to raise awareness about who we are and how people can access the materials and services we provide. This year\, we have received over 2\,000 HIV self-test kits and are planning to distribute them throughout the province\, some of which we plan on bringing with us to Valley Pride. Additionally\, we will have pamphlets available\, which contain information about safe sex practices\, harm reduction\, and tips for living a healthy life for individuals who are living with HIV.\n\nShelter Movers\n \nShelter Movers Nova Scotia is a local charity that provides free moving and storage services to survivors\, primarily women and children\, fleeing abuse. With the help of over 300 volunteers and the support of local businesses\, we ensure that our community members have a safe and dignified way of leaving their abusers.\n\nThe Valley Youth Project\n\nFounded in 2009 as a satellite of the NSYP\, the Valley Youth Project (VYP) is an Kentville-based non-profit organization run by local adult volunteers\, who are all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.  We facilitate twice-monthly drop-ins during the school year\, with time for discussion and activities.  We also provide education workshops for youth and adults.The purpose of the VYP is to provide a safe and supportive space for 2SLGBTQI+ youth and their allies to meet\, share\, and foster a community\, and like the NSYP our goal is to make Nova Scotia a safer\, healthier\, and happier place for young people of all orientations and identities. \nThe Red Door\n \n\nThe Red Door is a non for profit\, community based \, sexual health centre. We provide walk in services and booked appointments with physicians. Services include; STI testing \, reduced-cost Birth Control\, pap testing\, gender affirming care\, pregnancy terminations\, and medical care related to sexual health. The Red Door has been open for 30+ years\, providing this essential care to the youth in our community. \nAccessibility Notes:\nJust Us! is a welcoming business for the Queer Community. Additionally\, both the entrance to the Just Us! Cafe and Jack’s Gallery are accessible! \nThere are automatic doors at the entryway and an accessible\, gender-inclusive washroom. However\, may it be noted that the washroom has white amenities and white walls for those with lower visual capacities we invite you to consider that before using the space. \nSensory-wise\, Jack’s Gallery can be\, at times\, loud and echoey. SUMMARY:Flagging: A Pride Patch Embroidery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Heather Reed (she/her) and Imriel Bissnette (xe/they) for a queer embroidery workshop in the Charlotte Coombs Haley Community Room at the Wolfville Library! \n\nSpace will be limited\, so be sure to preregister using this form!\n\n\nEvery kit will include the option to make either the six stripe rainbow flag\, or the trans flag with enough material to make one patch.\n\nCost: Pay what you can/by donation at door.\n\nHeather Reed (she/her) is a settler hand embroidery artist working in the Annapolis Valley\, with a particular love for upcycled materials\, medieval needlework techniques\, and protest art! Modern embroidery easily incorporates historical\, social\, and pop culture influences\, anything imagined can be stitched! You can find her work at @moon_maid_embroidery\n\nImriel Bissnette (xe/they) is a queer\, non-binary Black and Indigenous primarily fiber artist. Xe relocated to the Annapolis Valley eight years ago and plans to stay here. Their work focuses on queer and gender themes\, as well as geeky fandoms (often retro video games and anime). Xe learned embroidery from Heather almost 5 years ago!
