SUMMARY:Boys\, Girls & Other Mythological Creatures
DESCRIPTION:This is a community event put on by a partner organization but supported by Valley Pride. \nShows on June 6\, 13\, 20 @ 11am and 2pm \nDeep in Simon’s basement\, there is a secret world of imagination and adventure. When his new friend Abby comes over after school to work on a class assignment\, Simon steers their work toward creating a play. However\, Simon’s older brother\, Zach\, is uneasy with their play-acting and dressing up…because\, as he reveals to Abby\, Simon wishes to be a girl. \nAs the three characters struggle through their conflicts\, they improvise a fairy tale about a magic prince\, an evil king\, a brave young girl\, and a fire-breathing dragon who’s getting more real by the minute. Can Abigail save Princess Simone from the Tower of Light? Will Zach succeed in turning his brother back into being a boy once and for all? And will Simon overcome fear and finally become their true self? Boys\, Girls\, and Other Mythological Creatures is a thoughtful and hilarious new play about our ability to transform. \n$8.00 under 14\, $12.00 for Adults \nCall 902-678-8040 to reserve your tickets! \nBy: Mark Crawford \nDirected By: Mindy Vinqvist-Tymchuk & Heidi Price \nProduced By: Mike Butler       \nCast Includes: Ryan MacNab\, Jonas Pecenka\, Alexa Landsburg

SUMMARY:Pride March
DESCRIPTION:For the fourth year\, we are holding a pride march rather than a parade. We will get to the party at Come Together\, but first it’s important that we take a moment to recognize that we are still fighting for our rights. \nJoin us at Miner’s Marsh to hear our 2026 Pride March speakers\, then take up space with us as we march through the streets of Kentville. From jewelry to cards to print art to decorations\, bring your wallet and find the piece that captures your heart. \nInterspersed with the vendors are resource organizations who support the queer community in the Valley. Be sure to stop by their tables to learn about what they do! \nResource Orgs:\n \nAcadia Office of Equity\, Diversity\, Inclusion & Anti-Racism \nThe Health Equity Alliance of Nova Scotia (HEAL NS) is a registered charity and not-for-profit health promotion organization. We serve those living with and affected by HIV and members of the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community. We provide support services for people living with HIV\, access to STI and HIV self-testing kits\, and have recently launched Check Me Out\, an easy-to-use checklist to inform sexual health discussions with your healthcare provider. Our aim is to improve health outcomes\, end stigma and discrimination for our community members\, and to end new HIV infections in Nova Scotia. \n \nSexual Health Resource Centre (Acadia Students’ Union) \nThe ASU’s Sexual Health Resource Centre (SHRC) works to facilitate Acadia students’ advancement\, growth\, & development of sexual and reproductive health knowledge and practices. We provide education\, resources\, support and access to sexual and reproductive health products for the Acadia community. While some of our services are limited to Acadia students\, we are happy to support the broader community where possible – just ask! We are also proud to partner with Sexual Health Nova Scotia’s Transformation Closet program\, acting as a pick-up and try-on spot for free gender affirming gear for all Nova Scotians. \nGet in touch by emailing shrc.asu@acadiau.ca or check us out on Instagram @SHRCAcadia. Free healthcare navigation and sexual health pamphlets are available online. \n\n \nHalifax Sexual Health Centre \nThe Halifax Sexual Health Centre is a primary-care level sexual\, reproductive\, and gender-affirming care clinic. The mission of HSHC is to improve and optimize the sexual health of all members of our community\, by providing high quality and caring clinical and educational services\, and empowering clients to make healthy choices. \npflag \nPflag Canada is a national organization that works with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities including families\, friends\, allies and loved ones\, to provide peer support\, education\, and advocacy. We want a supporting\, just and caring country for the evolving 2SLGBTQIA+ community\, including all sexual and gender orientations and expressions. Pflag is “Family for All!” \n \nprideHealth \nprideHealth is a collaboration between Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health that supports Two-Spirit\, lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer\, questioning\, intersex\, and asexual (2SLGBTQIA+) individuals across Nova Scotia. Our goal is to improve access to safe\, coordinated\, comprehensive\, and culturally appropriate primary health care. \nWe support individuals\, families\, and health care providers to promote health equity and affirming care through navigation assistance\, information\, education\, training\, and resources. We also offer consultation on policies and standards related to 2SLGBTQIA+ health care and health equity. \n \nPsyclopedia \nHello ____: Queer-ying Honourifics \nFriend\, Boss\, Esteemed Guest! Help us brainstorm more inclusive ways of addressing one another. Stop by our table and add to our canvas the terms of address that you use\, like\, or would like to see used in formal settings\, friendships\, or with close loved ones. Your contributions will help create community-informed educational resources about inclusive language. \n \nQueer Gerontology Lab \nThe Queer Gerontology Lab is a research team from the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University. Our project focuses on health equity for 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities across Nova Scotia. We’re looking at how queer folks experience access to culturally responsive and affirming care\, and how prepared current health professional students feel to provide that kind of care. Through a participatory research design\, we’re doing work by\, with\, and for the communities we live in\, and we are working to promote more equitable\, responsive care across our province. \n \nSexual Health Nova Scotia \nSexual Health Nova Scotia (SHNS) is a leading and expert voice around the issues of sexual\, gender\, and reproductive health (SGRH).  We champion positive sexual health throughout the lifespan for all Nova Scotians through advocacy\, education\, navigation\, and partnership. We will be bringing information about our programs – the Transformation Closet\, which distributes gender-affirming gear throughout the province\, and SUGAR Health\, which connects folks to SGRH services near them. \n \nThe Transformation Closet \nThe Transformation Closet provides free gender-affirming gear to anyone\, anywhere in Nova Scotia. We also offer education\, resources\, and workshops about gender-affirming care and gear. \n \nThe Valley Youth Project \nThe Valley Youth Project is a branch of the Nova Scotia Youth Project\, located in the Annapolis Valley. We aim to make the Valley better (and more fun!) for 2SLGBTQ youth aged 13-25 through events and regular drop-ins. Find us on Instagram\, Facebook\, or reach us through email. \nQueer Artisans:\nInfo coming soon!
